| Bell Tower |
| The first bell tower was constructed when this church was built in 1892. The bell itself was made in 1892 by the McShane Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland. It weighs more than 2000 pounds. The “story” goes that some folks thought the bell was inscribed with the words “to tell it out among the heathens that the Lord is King”. That is incorrect! The actual inscription reads: “to tell it out among the people that the Lord is King”. The wooden tower was replaced in 2002 with new cypress beams and iron supports for the legs. Ironwood was used for the platform for the bell. The bell still rings out to all the people that the Lord is King! |
